Stoner 4th of July foods

We’re all about the food, right? I mean, juicy hamburgers, puffy hotdogs, glistening chicken wings, it all sounds so delicious, especially when slathered with the perfect barbecue sauce. Maybe you’re a sweet ‘n tangy kind of person, or maybe you prefer it habanero-blow-your-mouth-out style, or perhaps you’re all about the smokiness. One great idea for a cannabis-inspired July 4th? Infuse your sauces for an extra buzzy kick, along with the meaty goodness.

And this doesn’t stop with sauces, you can create some great infused cannabis beverages to go along with your buzzy meat. Whether you infuse an alcoholic beverage to create the best of both worlds, or go non-boozy with lemonade, sparkling water, or some nice homemade fruit punch; you can make your own infused drinks, or buy something from your local weed shop.

Plus, if you’re less about barbecue sauce, and more about the good old-fashioned ketchup and mustard, you can create weed-infused versions of these as well, or possibly buy them from a local dispensary, if available. No matter how you do it, there are plenty of ways to get weed in your barbecue without ever lighting up at all.

Infused apple pie recipe

Let’s not forget dessert. A barbecue is delicious, that’s for sure, but what about a sweet little something after? For all those apple pie lovers out there, there’s a way to make your sumptuous dessert into an infused treat, and its not hard to do. In fact, it just takes 20 minutes of prep time, and 45 minutes to bake (the pie, not you). For cannabis infused apple pie, all you need are a few ingredients, a little cannabutter, and your sweet meal-ender can be that much sweeter.

An apple pie is pretty easy to make (‘easy as pie’) and requires pretty basic ingredients. For this recipe, bakers need the following ingredients, most of which can be found in an average kitchen (except the cannabutter which must be made before this, or bought from a dispensary. Cannabutter recipe included in the link):

  • 5 apples – peel, core, and dice them
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cannabutter
  • 1 egg white (for brushing the dough if desired)

Instructions for the infused apple pie recipe are straight forward, and don’t require a lot of time. The baker must do the following:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C)
  • Take a large saucepan and mix cannabutter and flour over medium heat so the cannabutter melts entirely. While stirring, add in sugar and spice mixture, and allow to simmer.
  • Keep stirring, and add in vanilla extract, lemon juice, and then the apples. Mix it all and allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Use a 9-inch pie pan, grease it, and put the pie crust in, pressing firmly to get it shaped to the pan. You can used an infused pie crust, or a regular one.
  • Pour apple pie mixture into the crust, and spread it evenly.
  • You don’t need a top layer of crust, but can use one if you like. If so, this is the time to place it over the apple filling. Make a few slits in the top of the dough, and if desired, brush egg whites on top for a golden finished product.
  • Tin foil is put around the pie crust to keep it from burning.
  • Bake it for 45 minutes, and let cool for two hours. Serve with regular or infused ice cream.

Yet another infused apple pie recipe discusses more ways in which cannabis can be infused into an apple pie, including the use of cannabis sugar. Interested bakers can check out this one too, for further ideas on how to make their own special pie.

Infused ice cream for your infused apple pie

What’s apple pie if there’s no ice cream with it? A semi-tragedy? Definitely not the situation you want at your 4th of July celebration. If you’re going to do dessert, you really should do it right. So along with your infused apple pie, here’s a look at an infused ice-cream recipe, which together, create the ultimate July 4th stoner dessert.

This particular recipe is for vanilla, and doesn’t require a churn machine. It’s good for any ice cream flavor including one you make yourself by adding other ingredients. The recipe is quick and easy, and requires the following ingredients:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 cup cocoa powder (optional for chocolate ice cream)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups cannabis-infused whipping cream (the recipe for this is covered in the same article).

Then follow these uber simple instructions for some delicious infused creaminess:

  • Take the condensed milk, vanilla, and salt, put in a medium bowl, and whisk. Also add in cocoa powder now if you choose to use it.
  • Chill a separate bowl, and use a mixer to whip the cannabis cream until firm peaks are seen.
  • Use a spatula to fold half of the cannabis whipped cream mixture, into the condensed milk mixture, until they’re combined. Once combined, fold that new mixture back into the whipped cream that’s left, and blend well.
  • Put all of it into an airtight container and put in the freezer for about 3 hours.
  • Voila! You’ve got perfectly infused ice cream to eat alongside your infused apple pie!

Feel free to add in whatever other ingredients you’d like for your own home-made ice cream. Maybe chocolate chips, or mint leaves, or caramel. Whatever you use, it’s bound to be tasty, and its bound to get you high! Check the original article for help with making cannabis whipping cream, decarboxylation techniques, and how to dose your food correctly.

4th of July and cannabis

Sure, it’s easy enough to find two things, and create a connection between them, whether its actually there or not. Let’s be honest, 4th of July and cannabis are two unrelated topics. However, they do share a similar theme, and one that brings them closer together year by year. The idea of freedom.

4th of July celebrates the ratification of the Declaration of Independence by the Second Continental Congress, which happened on July 4 of 1776. It stated that America would no longer be under British rule, and would from that point forward, function as its own free country. That’s why it’s called Independence Day, because the US declared its independence, and freedom, from England.

When celebrating 4th of July this year, we do so with 19 states legalized for recreational use (which should be 20, though South Dakota had its voter-approved measure taken away), close to 40 states with medical legalization policies, and with nearly every state having some kind of decriminalization measure or medical allowance – even if outside of a comprehensive program.

And yet all this exists as the federal government says that cannabis is 100% illegal (save for the pharma cannabis products it somehow thinks are fine, even when medical is not). Yes, there are bills currently working their way through congress, but until one passes, cannabis remains just as illegal as it was for early Americans to break British laws.

This isn’t just about people having easy access to some nice flower, or a vape pen. It’s also about people sitting in jail for nothing more than a joint, losing jobs over something like marijuana, or being denied the use of cannabis medicine for extreme medical issues. In this way, we are still fighting for freedoms on the weed front, and still working toward cannabis independence.

Conclusion

It’s probably going to be a hot one this year. And all that grilling won’t do much to help with the heat. A nice chilled piece of infused apple pie with infused ice cream, is the perfect way to chill down this summer holiday, and to do it with pride.
