If you’re one of the many people with some level of interest in the psychedelics industry, you’re probably tempted to check out of the events taking place in 2023. There are quite a few to choose from, evenly scattered throughout the year and in all different regions of the United States (although the best and biggest will be in states that have some type of psychedelics legislation already in place). Below is a short list of some of the most talked about psychedelics industry events of the year.
The psychedelics industry is booming
While it initially seemed like it was slow to gain acceptance, over the last year we’ve seen substantial growth in the psychedelics sector, mainly in the form of new and more progressive legislation being passed in a handful of pockets all over the country. The consumer side of the industry remains at a standstill until federal regulation catches up, but at this point, the growth is inevitable.
In just the last 12 months, we seen activity in Connecticut where both psilocybin and MDMA have been decriminalized; Colorado and Oregon who have both legalized the recreational use of entheogenic substances; San Francisco, Detroit, and numerous other cities that have decriminalized one or more psychedelic substances; and even the FDA has been providing ‘breakthrough therapy’ status to emerging psychedelics companies, and the DEA recently announced they want to ramp up production of psychedelics for research, industrial, and commercial purposes.
As a result, investors are tripping over themselves to get a piece of the pie, and thus the value of the industry as a whole continues to trend upward. A report published last year by CB Insights stated that investor funding for psychedelic medicine and research companies surpassed $700 million in 2021, which is double the amount from 2020 and almost eight times higher than 2019. And we don’t even have the final figures for 2022, which are likely to be considerably higher than the previous year.
Psychedelics industry events becoming mainstream in 2023
We all know that the one of the best ways to make new connections and learn about any given industry is by attending related events and conferences. We’ve seen a huge uptick in cannabis industry events that cater to many different niches, like MJBizCon that has become the industries largest B2B event over the last decade, or Alternative Products Expo which is dedicated entirely to alternative cannabinoid products, like those containing Delta 8 and HHC.
We also have events entirely focused on medicine and research, like the Emerald Conference; and on the flip side, we also have events that are purely recreational in nature, like all the Cannabis Cups. In short, these days you can find a cannabis-related event tailored to almost any specific need… and the same thing is beginning to happen in the psychedelics space.
It’s still on a smaller scale than weed, but there are events that are just for shrooms, others that are research and health-based, recreational/consumer-based events, business and investment forums, networking wellness retreats, and the list goes on.
Something I personally noticed while digging into some of the more prominent events worth attending, is that many of them are in Europe. Despite some level of stagnancy when it comes to making forward strides in the cannabis market, it seems that quite a few countries in the EU are welcoming psychedelics research with open arms, at the very least, based on the number of conventions happening out there (stay tuned for that list, to be released next week).
Mark your calendars: Top 5 psychedelics industry events
Cannadelic – Miami, Florida (February)
First and foremost, no we are not affiliated with this event, despite the similarities in our names. That said, I do expect to be in attendance so I can learn more about what’s brewing in the legal side of the psychedelics industry. There will be both, B2B and consumer/open-to-the-public days, and there should be plenty of opportunities to “shop for the best legal cannabis and psychedelic products”, as per their website. They are expecting over 150 exhibitors and vendors, roughly 100 expert speakers, and more than 20,000 attendees.
We appreciate you joining us. Sign up for the Cannadelics Weekly Newsletter to get updates direct to your email; and for sweet offers on cannabis flowers, vapes, edibles, smoking equipment, cannabinoid compounds, and even some psychedelic products. Everyone get stoned responsibly!
The event takes place from February 2nd to 4th at the Miami Airport Convention Center. Expo only tickets for consumers are free, the “Cannadelic Experience” pass is $99, and the “Limitless VIP” pass costs $199. This event is only 1 month away, so make sure to get your ducks in a row now (buy tickets and book your travel) while you still have the chance.

Convergence by Psychedelics Today – Los Angeles, California (March/April)
Psychedelics Today, a leading industry media company, is bringing together a diverse group of psychedelic experts that range from researchers and medical professionals, investors and business owners, lawmakers, advocates, and artists for a four-day event with the goal of “revolutionizing psychedelics”. What’s more, the event takes place at Wisdome, LA’s first and largest immersive art & music dome park located in the city’s downtown art district.
Convergence takes place from March 30th to April 2nd, with tickets starting at $325 for a 2-day pass, up to $1100 for an all-inclusive 4-day pass. As someone who used to live in LA and still visits there frequently, my advice is to rent a car. Whether you choose to stay in Downtown near the event, or in a different area, you will probably need it. Public transportation in LA leaves much to be desired and it’s not an easy city to traverse by foot.

Psychedelic Therapeutics and Drug Development Conference – San Francisco, CA (May)
This conference is in its second year running, as state on their website, their aim is to bring together the world’s leading experts in academia, industry, the non-profit sector, legal, and government to “discuss the challenges and opportunities facing those engaged in the research and development of psychedelics for various health conditions with considerable unmet need.”
The Psychedelic Therapeutics and Drug Development Conference takes place mid-May, on the 15th and 16th, at the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront hotel. The Conference has negotiated a special guest room rate for attendee who wish to stay on site, and this rate is good until April 21st. Conference tickets start at $295.

Psychedelic Science Conference – Denver, CO (June)
The fourth annual Psychedelic Science Conference is slated to be their largest yet. The event is organized by MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) and will include some of the biggest names in the psychedelic community. It’s a five-day conference that takes place in Denver, where entheogens were recently legalized.
There will many different sessions, workshops, networking dinners, and other opportunities to learn about the industry and engage with those who have most at stake in it. The event takes place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, but there will be many offsite associated events as well. Tickets start at $705 for general admission up to $1595 for the business package.

Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics – New York City, NY (September/October)
Horizons was founded in 2007 by Kevin Balktick, and it started as a singe event one afternoon which included only a handful of psychedelics industry researchers and activists. Fast forward to today, and it has become the longest running annual event for members of the psychedelic community. Traditionally, it’s been held in New York, but last year they had a conference in both New York City, NY, and Portland, OR.
No official dates have been listed for this year’s Horizon conference, but it’s expected to happen sometime in September or October like it has for the last decade and a half; 2023 will be Horizon’s 16th year putting on this event in New York City.
